city life zen

What makes this photo successful is the awkward displacement of the man amongst the lifeless trees.  We understand by seeing this photo that this man must have been trying to find a discreet place to talk on his cellphone, choosing this gloomy looking zen pebble garden as his place of concealment. The hilarity that is found upon the man suspending his balance on the wood border of the garden brings into play this sense of clear focus on the body and the minds balance, all though thrown off by the dark light tones.  The tree's dancing branches are tendril like and the bareness of them is uncomfortable, making finding pure serenity in this picture difficult.  The blank zen like state of this picture is thus successful in an estranged lifeless gloom.
